Have you ever wondered what we mean by surplus food? Where does it come from and how does it link to the problem of food waste? This short slide show video provides a brief overview. I presented these slides at the Sheffield Festival 2018. The work is based on research I am currently doing with many of the organizations mentioned in the slide show. The key message is that surplus food is not waste. It is not plate scrapings or something fished out of the bin. It is still edible and becomes wasted when we do not use it.

Wanting less is another aspect of food waste that needs to be looked at. The idea of “Enough is a Feast,” needs to be practiced more by most of us.
